ESPID Research Lunches

Research Lunches at ESPID 2017:

DateTopic Objectives of the Session Speakers
THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2017 | 13:40-14:40 | Paris HallMicrobiome and Local and Systemic Immunological Response in New-borns Affected by Small Bowel Disease *The primary objective is to describe the microbiota and the intestinal immune system in newborns and children undergoing bowel resection for NEC or intestinal perforation, who then subsequently experience small bowel disease (SBS). The secondary aim is to identify an intestinal immunological and dysbiosis pattern predisposing to infections (eg. sepsis). It would be of great interest to create a European network where all data about microbiota of newborn and children affected by SBS and intestinal immunological features are shared and stratified based on risks for infections (eg sepsis). A collaborative approach could bring a greater understanding of infectious risk in this special population.
